Stars of Weaving Competition

All TBWA members registered for the Conference are invited to enter the 2026 Stars of Weaving Competition. This is your chance to share your originality and creativity with fellow weavers by submitting baskets of your own design. So get busy weaving!

Five juried categories (each awarded a $50 cash prize)

1. Reed – Traditional reed material using any type of construction
2. Art/Unique – Any type of construction or materials
3. Natural Materials – Includes vines, roots, pods, gourds, pine needles, hard and soft wood
4. New Weaver – The weaver has woven for less than two years. (Baskets from kits, even this Conference’s classes, will be allowed in this category only.)
5. Professional – Professional weavers are limited to entering 1 basket in the Professional category only. Professional weavers are weavers that teach at the Conference level and/or earn their livelihood teaching basket classes and/or selling baskets. They need to be a member of the Texas Basket Weavers Association to participate.

Non-professional weavers may enter a maximum of 2 baskets, each in a different category. Baskets must have been woven in the last two years. Only members attending the TBWA Conference may submit baskets.

Winners from each of the juried categories will receive a $50 cash prize. Since a non-professional weaver can enter 2 baskets, it is possible she or he may win in 2 categories.

One entry (excluding the professional category) will be selected by the TBWA Conference attendees as Viewer’s Choice and will receive a $50 cash prize.

Voting by TBWA members for the Viewer’s Choice award will be from 8 am to 8 pm on Friday only. The winning baskets will be announced at the Annual Business Meeting on Saturday during the Business Meeting.
